(MENAFN) Family doctors as well as pediatricians in the Madrid area started an indefinite protest on Monday, requesting a cap to the figure of patients they see a day.
As shown by primary care providers, they regularly have to see nearly 60 patients a day, which triggers personal burnout, meaning the patients are not receiving proper care.
“We are on strike because the demand cannot be infinite. Because we need time to attend to our patients,” published a tweet on family care doctor Ana Gimenez.
The union that started the strike protest stated that main care doctors need to see a maximum of 31 patients a day for 10 minutes per person. It claims that pediatricians need to cap their patient amount to 21 children a day as well.
The condition has become a brutal circle: given the hard working situations in Madrid, doctors are departing for other regions of Spain or other nations, resigning from their jobs and leaving work situations even worse, the secretary-general of the AMYTS union Angela Hernandez stated.
