The prime objective of this automation adoption was to automate hours of service that demand time, make deliveries with quality and encourage innovations based on technology. This automation implementation was executed across departments and business processes.
Healthcare providers, operating in real-time face a bunch of challenges like data explosion, overwhelming patient demands, volatility of healthcare workers, and cybersecurity issues. These are some of the common challenges that are observed across patient admission and discharge, insurance claims, electronic health record management, audit management, etc. RPA can be a one-stop solution to address these healthcare challenges. Facing the same challenges, Unimed Grande shook hands with AutomationEdge for RPA implementation.
Starting with the planning and control departments, AutomationEdge automated financial, administrative and IT business processes. Further, four more departments received RPA implementation, viz. People Management, Commercial; Business Operations and Rules; and other Services.
“Starting small and scaling big has helped us spread the automation culture throughout the company in a big way, making employees technologically enabled so much so that they identify the RPA use cases themselves, and create a pool of processes that can be automated,” explains Edilauro Coelho, coordinator of IT at Unimed Grande Florianópolis.
The IT department also selected people who wanted to learn and develop RPA and created an IT business partner position that previously didn't exist. This role comprises looking at the processes in a particular area and optimizing them for their execution and results using IT or automation tools.
So far, the team has answered more than 130 requests from the business areas.
Today, Unimed Grande Florianópolis has 68 active robots, which generated an average savings of 5,000 hours. Of this total, 2,500 are with robots, executed once or more times a month, and 2,500 are circumstantial, with robots developed to meet a specific demand.
Automation implementation has observed significant business benefits over the course of the year, such as RPA saving 1,800 Manhours. In 2022 alone, the number has reached 3,200 hours.
