(MENAFN- The PR Company) The Sparkle Foundation, a UAE-based charity dedicated to bettering the quality of life of communities in Malawi, hosted their first annual Sparkle Gala dinner on October 7 at the Address Marina Hotel in Dubai.

The invite-only VIP dinner was designed to strengthen awareness of The Sparkle Foundation and to highlight its charitable activities in Malawi – and encourage philanthropic between the south-east African nation and the UAE.

The dinner also demonstrated how The Sparkle Foundation can help UAE businesses achieve their environmental, social, and governance (ESGs) goals. The foundation enables various forms of donation, from financial to volunteering programs, which can be customised to suit the desired engagement level in a supporting organisation – and can be offered remotely in the UAE or on the ground in Malawi.

All entertainment from the evening was volunteered by various African groups and artists. Also in attendance were representatives of several well-renowned UAE organisations were in attendance, including the likes of Eltizam, Al Tamimi, Clifford Chance, Al Tayer Stocks, Chanel, PwC, Clyde and Co, Baker McKenzie, Lush, Cognita, Jumeirah and EMIR.

Sarah Brook, founder and CEO of The Sparkle Foundation shared, “My life was saved in Malawi age 18, and children lost their lives when they prioritised me to be seen by the only doctor due to the colour of my skin. When I was conscious and realized what had happened, my entire life changed forever, and I made a promise to the country that I would make a difference to at least one child’s life. 14 years later we have reached 15,000 lives and the UAE has enabled Sparkle to grow from strength to strength.

“The region has brought people from all walks of life together who are committed to making this world a better place and we are leading a movement of change makers here in Dubai, to bring positive change across Africa. Our charity model has now been recognised globally and businesses and individuals are enabling us to grow sustainably and change thousands of lives.

This is a movement of people. I have heard the calls over the last decade from the locals and expats across the country who are looking for a way to make a difference. Sparkle has the answer.”

A week prior to the Gala dinner, an online silent auction was opened to the public to raise funds for the cause. The auction items include one night stay in Jumeriah Al Qasr, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix tickets, Auto drome track experiences, holiday homes across UK and Europe and will end on October 26th. Funds raised thus far by the Silent Auction and Gala Dinner have reached a generous and impressive AED 300,000. The foundation’s target goal was to raise AED500,000 through sponsorships and activations on the night. This event has been approved by IACAD for fundraising purposes (PRHCE-000091759).

Since registering as an official charity in the UAE in 2021, the foundation has developed ongoing partnerships with over 10 schools, Gulf for Good and more than 20 corporations in a variety of sectors.
