(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that Patron, a mine-sniffing dog from Chernihiv, has already helped detect and neutralize more than 200 explosive devices in Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, he said this on twitter .
'Meet Patron. He has already helped Ukrainian forces detect more than 200 explosives, and he helps teach children about mines. The other day, President Zelensky honored him – and his owner – for all that they have done and for all that they continue to do,' Trudeau wrote.
He also added that like Patron, the Government of Canada understands the importance of demining. 'This past weekend, we announced funding to help Ukraine with mapping hazards, raising awareness, and conducting clearance activities as soon as possible,' Trudeau said.
On May 8, in the presence of Trudeau, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented state awards to Ukrainian rescuers clearing Ukrainian territory from Russian mines. Mine-sniffing dog Patron was also given a medal for his services to the country.
Before meeting with Zelensky, the Prime Minister of Canada visited the town of Irpin, Kyiv region.
