Doha: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani said that the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani for the 9th Qatar International Agricultural exhibition (AgriteQ) and the 3rd International Environmental Exhibition (EnviroteQ), affirms the extent of the unlimited support provided by the state to the agricultural and environmental sectors, pointing to Qatar's many achievements in these two fields.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Minister noted the wide participation in the two exhibitions locally, internationally, and from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), pointing to the tangible and great results and successes achieved by the previous sessions of the agricultural and environmental exhibition, in terms of quality exhibits and modern technologies in the agriculture and the environment fields, which left an excellent impression on all concerned and participants of the importance of this event as well as the excellent results that emerge from each session.
He explained that the local agricultural production, both plant, and livestock, in Qatar has achieved high jumps and high production rates, and the sufficiency of some commodities, which encourages the export of the surplus abroad, in line with implementing the Qatar National Strategy for Environment and Climate Change, which was launched in October, a priority for the ministry.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H E Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al Ayada stressed the importance of the agricultural and environmental exhibition and the wide participation in them both locally and internationally, noting that the Kingdom's participation in the two exhibitions helps in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, in the process of flowing goods between them, and in exchanging of experience.
In a statement to QNA, he said that Saudi Arabia is keen to partake in the two exhibitions, with dozens of exhibitors from all relevant associations and private sector companies, date farms, the Saudi Organic Farming Association, the Saudi Aquaculture Society, and fish companies. Qatar and Saudi Arabia are working together to achieve cooperation in the agricultural field through exchanging experiences between the private and public sectors, and ensuring the flow of goods between the two countries, he added.
The Undersecretary for Agriculture at Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate of Oman H E Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri praised the AgriteQ and EnviroteQ. He described the gathering and the large participation of companies specialised in the agricultural and environmental fields in the two exhibitions as a pioneering and exemplary step, especially at the GCC level.
He also told QNA that the two current versions are witnessing a great development in terms of the number of countries, companies, and participating and exhibiting entities, stressing the importance of these gatherings and meetings to enhance the food security system and agricultural production.
He stated that approximately 29 Omani companies from the private and public sectors are participating in the two exhibitions, expressing hope that Omani companies will enter into partnerships and cooperation deals with their GCC counterparts to promoting their products, as well as with companies from outside the region to select products from the global market to be supplied to the Omani markets.
Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani praised the AgriteQ, describing the exhibition as an important platform that provides an opportunity for businessmen to learn about the latest innovations in the agricultural sector and explore investment opportunities available in this sector, which is considered one of the most vital sectors that attract investment.
The Director of the Food Security Department at the Ministry of Municipality Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri underscored the importance of the exhibitions in terms of facing global challenges in these areas and achieving food security by providing and adopting modern agricultural technologies at a reasonable cost. He added that the two exhibitions provide great opportunities for exchanging expertise and experiences between Qatari agricultural companies and their counterparts in other countries and learn about modern technologies used in the agricultural field, such as those related to alternative energy and techniques to increase production.
