Saudi - Commerce Ministry Implements over 16,000 Inspection Tours to Follow Up on Commitment to Applying Precautionary Measures


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, January 6, 2022, SPA -- Inspection teams of the Ministry of Commerce have implemented more than 16,800 visits between January 1 and 5, 2022, to ensure the commitment of commercial facilities and points of sale across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to precautionary measures and preventive procedures to face the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Field visits to markets, commercial centers, and points of sale resulted in issuing 194 immediate fines, in implementation of penalties mentioned for violating the precautionary measures and preventive procedures to limit the spread of the pandemic.
The ministry stressed it would continue following up on the commitment of workers and visitors of malls and commercial centers and facilities to wearing masks in closed and opened places, observing social distancing and banning the entry of those who have not completed the immunization process.
It also said that commercial centers are required to put the special code of automated verification permits of the health status at entrances and allocating special employees to ensure that consumers scan the barcode before their entry, with ensuring social distancing and wearing masks.
Inspection teams, during their tours, check on failure to apply preventive and precautionary measures that should be followed as issued from the Public Health Authority, and impose a financial penalties on violating facilities that reach up to SAR 100,000, which can be doubled in case of repeating violations, in addition to shutting down facilities that repeat violations.
