For 1st time, Spain recognizes pets as sensitive beings

(MENAFN) A new rule in Spain was effective to identify pets as "sentient beings" for the first time in Spain.

As stated by the introduction of the rule "This reform is needed not only to adjust the Spanish Civil Code to animals' true nature but also to the nature of the relationships they have with humans."

Pets was before considered "objects" under Spanish law.

Therefore, one of the main consequences of this lawful paradigm shift is going to be depend on what occurs to pets if they were divorced or separated.

Today, pets are going to be treated more like kids, with judges able to order shared care of animals amid associates.

In the judge's choice on pet care, the pet's health is going to be taken into account.
