Afghanistan - War is over, Afghans should work hard to rebuild country: Analysts

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Participants of a roundtable discussion organized by Pajhwok Afghan News and aired by Farah's Dunya-i-Naw radio station in western Farah province expressed satisfaction over the current security situation in Afghanistan, saying Afghans should now work together for the development of their country.

The 35 minutes roundtable, organized by Pajhwok Afghan News with financial support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Danish Embassy, ​​was titled“Achieving Peace and Resolving Local Disputes”.

Religious scholar and tribal elder, TazaGul Khan, civil society activist Eng.ZiauddinNoorzai and a tribal elder Haji Amir Jan Agha were the guests of the roundtable.

TazaGul Khan, referring to the end of the war in Afghanistan, said that the current situation was satisfying for the Afghan people and it should be used as a good opportunity.

People during war were tired of attending many funerals, but now the war has stopped and there are no killings now, he said.

He said it was important to listen to the views and suggestions of tribal elders, all Afghans should tolerate each other.

Another participant, Eng. Ziahuddin Noorzai, said:“We are upbeat about future. Earlier there was war and we suffered a lot culturally. If the situation remains like this we can progress a lot.”

Countries that witnessed wars later became strong and developed nations and Afghanistan could also become a developed country.

He said efforts should be made to improve the country's education system which he said was vital for progress in diverse field.

“There is no room for fueling violence in the country, peace has arrived and we should work together for the country's development,” another participant, Amir Jan Agha said.

He said the incumbent government should benefit from advises of elders and give responsibilities to the educated youth in order to smoothly run the affairs.
