Qatar - PSG, Ooredoo partner to host football tournament

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: The Paris Saint-Germain Ooredoo Qatar Cup will be held at The Pearl's Temba Arena from November 17-29.

Organised by Paris Saint-Germain and Ooredoo, the tournament will see matches taking place from 6pm to 9pm each day.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Paris Saint-Germain to bring the Paris Saint Germain Ooredoo Qatar Cup to The Pearl Island,” said Hussain Akbar Al Baker, Commercial Executive Director at United Development Company.

“Our partnership group is extremely proud, and we can't wait to showcase Temba Arena to the community through our affiliation.”

The 5 v 5 competition will involve residents of Qatar aged 18 years and above. The competition will operate as a round-robin across 13 days - each team consisting of 5 to 10 players max. The top teams will be determined by point accumulation in group play. All teams will play a minimum of four matches. The top two ranking teams of each group will qualify for the“Gold Phase”, while the bottom two ranking teams of each group will qualify for the“Silver Phase”.“This is exciting news, especially for the Qatar community, as we return to normal sporting activities,” said Moza Al Muhannadi, Director CSR, Sponsorship and Media at Ooredoo.

“Temba Arena will be the perfect venue for Paris Saint-Germain Ooredoo Qatar Cup and hopefully for many other ancillary events that we plan as part of our corporate social responsibility commitment to support events that promote a healthy, active lifestyle.”

A grand prize of QR20,000 will be presented to the champions immediately following the final match of the competition. Second Place Team will be awarded a grand prize of QR5,000.
