Emergency Response Plan for Lebanon revealed by UN


(MENAFN) The UN stated in a report that on Friday, Oct. 1 the United Nations revealed their Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for Lebanon, intended for offering crucial help to 1.1 million Lebanese amongst the most vulnerable.

The ERP comprises of 119 ventures for an overall of USD383 million, and the UN projects that about 78 percent of the Lebanese population (3 million people) live under the poverty line, encouraging the organization to initiate a string of humanitarian programs to relieve people's suffering.

This strategy concentrates on shoring up the most vulnerable people in the industries of education, food security, health, nutrition, water and sanitation, child protection and protection against gender-based aggression.

The UN Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon Najat Rochdi stated at a news symposium in the Lebanese capital: "in my recent field visits, I met children, young and old Lebanese men and women. Their stories were heartbreaking, sometimes outrageous and shocking."
