SAN FRANCISCO - Less than four months after leaving agency life, former Hotwire global CEO Heather Kernahan has acquired a firm of her own.
Kernahan is stepping into an ownership role for the first time with the purchase of Content Bureau, and will serve as CEO with the agency's full team remaining in place.
“Having been part of many acquisitions over the past decade, I'm happy to announce my first personal acquisition of an agency that I've known for almost 20 years,” Kernahan told PRovoke Media.“I've acquired the Content Bureau, a premium B2B content marketing agency. Founded and led by Stacy Crinks for the past 25 years, I was a client for many years and experienced firsthand their strategic work and exceptional service. I'm excited to lead the company into its next stage of growth with our innovative B2B clients and deeply experienced team.”
Kernahan plans to expand the firm's offerings beyond content strategy and marketing to include new services, and is eyeing potential acquisitions or joint ventures in AI consultancy, strategic communications, and influencer engagement.
“What I'm seeing is that business leaders are having to move quickly with their awareness and growth program and need a partner who can help them connect with their targets across every channel. They aren't always thinking that they need PR or digital marketing or paid media but that they need someone who understands those disciplines and can help them reach their business goals,” she said.
Crinks, meanwhile, emphasized her confidence in Kernahan's leadership.
“I'm so proud of the business and the team we've built at the Content Bureau, and know the agency will continue to flourish under Heather's exceptional leadership. It was important to find a buyer who would deliver expanded growth opportunities to our team and clients through proven B2B marketing and communications leadership, innovation, and who would also preserve our uniquely beautiful agency culture,” Crinks said.
The acquisition follows Kernahan's departure from Hotwire in May after nine years with the agency. She joined Hotwire as president of North America and Australia, was named CEO of North America in 2019, and took on the global leadership role in 2021 , succeeding Barbara Bates. Before Hotwire, Kernahan held senior marketing and executive leadership roles at fast-growth and global technology organizations including Autodesk, Enphase Energy, and Alias.
