PM meets Lebanese counterpart over energy cooperation


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Thursday held bilateral talks with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. The talks were followed by discussions attended by a number of ministers and officials from both sides.

Talks went over Jordanian-Lebanese ties and means of advancing cooperation in all fields. The discussions focused on advancing partnerships in the energy field, notably speeding up the completion of the project to deliver Egyptian gas to Lebanon through Jordan and Syria.

Khasawneh reiterated Jordan's support for Lebanon to help them overcome their challenges, notably the energy and economic hardships. He noted that His Majesty King Abdullah, in his recent remarks to the 75th United Nations General Assembly, stressed the need to support Lebanon amid these circumstances.

The Lebanese prime minister valued the Kingdom's stances in support of Lebanon, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The two premiers also agreed to hold the meetings of the Jordanian-Lebanese joint higher committee during the upcoming period. 

Upon his arrival to Beirut, Khasawneh was received by his counterpart, Petra added.
