China: Beijing witnesses tourism rebound in Qingming holiday


(MENAFN) On Monday, Apr. 6 city authorities stated that Beijing's main tourist attractions saw the number of visitors in the Tomb-sweeping Day holiday recovering to 98.7 percent of the 2019 level.

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism stated that the 182 key tourist attractions in Beijing welcomed almost 6.1 million visitors in the three-day holiday that ended on Monday.

The bureau noted that the whole proceeds of the tourist attractions hit 290 million yuan (USD44 million), a rise by 8.7 percent from that in 2019 before the coronavirus attack.

Tomb-sweeping Day, acknowledged as well as Qingming Festival, fell on April 4 this year. It is a traditional holiday in China for people to honor dead family members, worship ancestors and go on spring trips.
