Uzbekistan prolongs travel ban with 8 nations

Uzbekistan's special anti-COVID-19 commission said Saturday in a statement that the government has again extended the postponement of all incoming, outbound and cargo flights with eight nations until March 1 as new coronavirus variants were detected in some of these states.


The Central Asian country extended the flight constraints with Britain, Italy, Denmark, Austria, Australia, the Netherlands and South Africa till Feb. 1 earlier this month after having cut off its air links with in December,
but this time the commission added Germany to the list.

According to the commission, citizens of and people permanently living in the eight states, along with other foreigners who have been to these states within the last two weeks, are not allowed to enter Uzbekistan during the period of flight restrictions.
Uzbek citizens and stateless persons who have been to these countries in the last 14 days and arrive from a third country will be put in mandatory self-isolation for 14 days in designated facilities or hotels, it said.
