Kuwait plays against Bahrain, seeks qualification to Gulf Cup's semifinal


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait national team faces on Monday its Bahraini counterpart at Doha's Khalifa International Stadium as part of group B in the 24th Gulf Cup.
Kuwait is looking to resolve its place at the Golden Square after facing Bahrain, while the Bahraini team hopes to win and qualify for the finals.
In a press conference, Kuwait national team coach Thamer Anad said that the match with Bahrain would qualify the winning team to the semi-finals of (Gulf 24).
"Our team is ready to meet Bahrain, hoping to regain its victory," he added.
On his part, Bahrain coach Helio Souza said during the conference that his team would spend all effort to win and qualify for the semifinals of (Gulf 24), and would play the way he used to, by increasing pressure on the opposing team and using his mistakes to score goals.
On the other hands, another match between Saudi Arabia and Oman will take part later on Monday, where both seek to win and ensure qualification.
Oman, who have won four points, will play against Saudi Arabia, which has three points in a tough match in which the winner qualifies for the semifinals of (Gulf 24).
Oman leads Group B with six points, followed by Kuwait and Saudi Arabia with three points, while Bahrain have the lowest score with a single point.
Other matches today will include two Group A bouts, pitting UAE against Qatar and Iraq against Yemen. (end)
