Public Complaints About Canadian Telecom Companies Hit Record High

(MENAFN- Baystreet.ca) Canadians' complaints about their wireless and Internet service have hit a new record.
The Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) has reported that complaints made against Canadian telecom operators spiked by more than a third in the year ending July 2019, reaching a new record. Billing issues were the most frequent complaints made, according to the federal bureau.
Bell Canada, a unit of BCE Inc, was responsible for 30% of all complaints received, Rogers Telecommunications accounted for almost 10%, and Telus Corp received 8% of the complaints, according to the CCTS annual report.
The bureau received a record 19,300 complaints between August 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019 – up 35% from roughly 14,200 in the previous year and representing a 145% increase over the past five years. The year 2018-19 was the first year that TV complaints were included in the data, which contributed to the increased numbers.
