Qatar- Design a logo for GAC and enter a chance to win QR50,000

Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has invited creative citizens and residents to take part in a contest of designing a permanent logo for the GAC, in which the winner will bag QR50,000.

The GAC announced this on its Twitter account. 'The GAC announces its wish to design a new logo, and pleased to invite interested creative and talented citizens and residents to participate in the competition, the post said.

It also gives a number of conditions and specifications for designing the new logo. The logo shall be creative, simple and shall strongly indicate the customs rolls and it shall be characterised in a national manner that indicates a Qatari institution and is suitable for representing the GAC, the GAC post said.

The logo should not be adopted from any other authority logo. Two copies of the logo should be made, one of which includes the name of 'General Authority of Customs and the other is 'Qatar Customs.

The announcement says that each designer can submit a maximum of three designs and the logo should be suitable for use in all media and advertisements and can be printed on shields, gifts, files, letters and correspondences without disappearing its shape, and components. Under other specifications, the design should retain clarity of all its elements, whether in different colours or black and white when zoomed out or zoomed in. Each design should be submitted in two versions - colour and black and white.

The design shall not contain the ready-made templates and the available effects in the design software. The design shall be implemented with professional design programmes and to be submitted in PDF or JPEG format with high quality and a resolution of not less than (300 pixels / inch).

The announcement further states that the GAC has the right to modify the winning design as it deems appropriate with the logo's designer or by third party. 

The ownership of the winning logo shall be transferred to the General Authority of Customs while retaining the moral right of the designer and he shall submit a written undertaking in accordance with the requirements of the Legal Affairs Department at the GAC. It adds that the GAC is not responsible for any costs or losses that may occur due to the logo design and has no obligations towards the owners of the non-winning designs.
