Kuwait- 'Ration items cost govt KD178m'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, March 5: Minister of Commerce and Industry and State Minister for Youth Affairs Khalid Al-Rawdan has confirmed continuous development of the food security system, while the training of youths to prepare them to enter the labor market is one of the government's priorities, reports Al-Shahid daily.

Al-Rawdan disclosed 1,559,463 Kuwaitis, GCC nationals and other nationalities are registered in 371,225 ration cards pointing out they receive their monthly food ration from 82 centers. He added the value of subsidized food items in 2017 reached KD 177,760,000.

Meanwhile, the Social Care Sector in the Ministry of Social Affairs will reshuffl e its committees at the beginning of April, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources revealed the decision covers the Ward Services, Nutrition and Charitable Fund committees; affirming all the members of these committees are citizens and experts in their respective fields.

On the other hand, sources said the National Society and Foundations Department will grant licenses for charitable markets; clarifying the Charitable Work Law does not allow the establishment of charitable markets by individuals or private sector institutions.
