Qatar- Geminid meteor shower tonight

The 'Geminid meteor shower will be seen in Qatar sky and all hemisphere skies from this evening, until tomorrow dawn,Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced.

Geminid meteor shower is one of the distinctive meteor showers can be seen from the Earth; because its illumination on sky is more than other meteor showers. Moreover, the average shower can be seen during its peak will be about 120 Geminid meteors per hour.

Astronomer expert Dr. Beshir Marzouk said, residents of Qatar and Arabic area countries can see it with naked eye over eastern Horizon of Qatar sky, from more darker places, and places without light and environment pollutions (pure sky).

Photos for Geminid meteor can also be taken using digital cameras, but one must increase exposure time of camera while taking photos.

Geminid meteor observation this year will be very special because the sky will be darker after sunset time, where Moon will not appear over Qatar sky until its time of rising, where Moon will rise over Doha sky at 2:36am tomorrow.

Qatar resident will have a good chance to see latest meteor shower this year 'Ursid meteor shower, where its peak will be from the evening of December 22 until the dawn on December 23. The average Ursid meteor shower which can be seen during its peak will be about 10 Ursid meteors per hour.
