S. Korea aims solar power business in Jordan


(MENAFN) Korea Elect Power Corp. is considering a solar energy business in Jordan, as part of its efforts to tap into a new growth engine.

Meanwhile, the firm made a group with GS Engineering Co. and Hanwha Q Cells Co. to try to win a USD 7bn project to build a 350-megawatt solar plant in the UAE.

However, the electricity market has been dominated by KEPCO and sale of elect accounted for more than 90 percent of the state-run power total sales in Q1.

S. Korea has proclaimed a plan to open the electricity market in order to private firms as part of its industry-wide corporate restructuring efforts.
