Ethiopia: two die, many hurt in grenade attack at rally


(MENAFN) Officials declared that Ethiopia's new Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed had survived a grenade attack at a rally in the capital,which left two people dad and many others injured.

The attack was carried out by an unknown gunman shortly after the prime minister, aged 41, an ex trooper who took office in April, has ended his speech to tens of thousands of people gathered in the centre of Addis Ababa.

Health Minister Amir Aman announced: "I'm so sorry to learn that we have lost another Ethiopian victim of yesterday's attack who was in ICU at Black Lion Hospital,"

He added: "My sincere sympathy and condolences to the family, friends & all Ethiopians."
