Qatar- Over 680 people participate in yoga day event

DOHA: Over 680 people from various nationalities participated in a yoga event held on Friday at the Fitness Center of Sheraton Grand Hotel Doha to mark International Yoga Day.

'Yoga, a group ofphysical,mental, andspiritualpractices or disciplines is getting popularity in Qatar, Vishnu Prasad, a leading yoga instructor in Qatar, who led the yoga event told The Peninsula.

He said that the number of participates increased to 680 people this year, from about 250 last year.

'The participates hailed from various countries including the UK, the US, Argentina, India and many more, said Prasad.

He said that yoga helps reduce stress in a big way and improve well-being in day-to-day life of the people. 'Yoga is not just about exercise; it is a way to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves and it helps to align the unity of mind and body, thought and action to our health and our well-being, said Prasad.

He said that the Word Yoga Day itself is a reflection of peace, unity the event is celebrated all over the world on June 21, 2018.

In Qatar, one of the leading yoga instructors, Vishnu Prasad led the biggest yoga event organized by Vishnu and Sheraton Grand Hotel Doha's Health and Fitness Center together.

The event gathered more than 680 yoga enthusiasts under one roof which kick-started International Yoga Day indoor event at Sheraton Grand Hotel Doha Fitness Center on evening 7pm to 8.30pm with yoga asana (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing techniques) dhyana (meditation).

'We also organise full moon yoga in Qatar which is participated by about 300 people, said Vishnu Prasad.
