Anglophone activists jailed in Cameroon

(MENAFN) Seven activists from the country's English-speaking minority of rebellion and terrorism were convicted in a court in Cameroon, sentenced from 10-15 years.

Cameroon's English-speaking minority say they are marginalized by the country's Francophone majority.

Correspondents say the group's leader, Mancho Bibixy's radio broadcasts are linked with a radical movement in the north-western town of Bamenda.

According to AFP news agency, he was found guilty on Friday by a military court in the capital Yaounde of "acts of terrorism, hostility against the homeland, secession, revolution and insurrection" and jailed for 15 years.
