(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Port of Salalah management, in coordination with the relevant stakeholders, has activated the emergency plan in preparation for the Tropical Cyclone Mekunu.
The plan includes informing all operators of latest developments related to the cyclone, shifting all ships in the port to safe areas, and transferring hazardous containers to safe areas.
It also includes covering all vital areas with sandbags to prevent any flooding, evacuation of oil collection areas and transporting oil to safe areas. Big equipment such as overhead cranes and forklifts too have been fixed to the ground. All high level containers are being lowered and safe areas identified to secure equipment.
