Russia and India to increase economic cooperation


(MENAFN) The foreign Ministry said the Russian President Vladimir Putin and visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have decided to improve economic and energy cooperation during the talks in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.

According to the ministry, Russian Foreign Minister told media after "long, frank, friendly" Putin-Modi talks that the two leaders paid particular attention to the economic cooperation

He said the two leaders discussed the details about what steps should be taken to guarantee the solid economic component of a summit to be held in India in early October this year.

The minister also said the Russia-India trade increased about 20 percent last year and grew some 40 percent in the "first months" of 2018.
