Ooredoo to provide seamless services on Lusail rail tracks

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Ooredoo has announced that it will help Lusail Light Rail Transport transform passengers' digital experiences with the most advanced smart transport technology, thanks to a partnership with Qatar Rail.
The partnership, which was announced at the ongoing Cityscape Qatar, will see Ooredoo and Qatar Rail work closely on the planning, design, and installation of the Ooredoo Supernet throughout the trains and stations of the network.
The 4-line Lusail Light Rail Transport system will run 33km across the Lusail Smart City. Passengers will have complete access to Ooredoo voice and data services while the trams run at-grade, through underground tunnels, and while travelling through the stations.
The Lusail Light Rail Transport system is expected to begin operations in 2018, and transport tens of thousands of passengers to the stadiums during the FIFA 2022 World Cup Qatar.
This announcement builds on the existing partnership between Ooredoo and Qatar Rail, which is seeing Ooredoo deploy its next-generation In-Building Solution across the Doha Metro's Red Line for passengers to use their voice and data services during their trips.
Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi, COO Ooredoo Qatar, said: 'Using the Ooredoo Supernet, Lusail Light Rail Transport passengers will always have network access while travelling in Qatar. Ooredoo's advanced infrastructure will enable real-time insights on Lusail Light Rail's performance, provide state-of-the-art security for critical national infrastructure, and support smart transport innovations both in stations and on mobile apps.
