Ispahani Group Chairman Ali Behrouze passes away


(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : The chairman of Bangladesh's one of the oldest business conglomerates MM Ispahani Group has passed away. Mirza Ali Behrouze Ispahani breathed his last early morning on January 23 while being treated at the Apollo Hospital in , said a statement.

Ispahani Group, which is involved in tea, textile, jute, property, poultry and shipping, also owns stakes in the newspaper. Behrouze, a descendant of the Ispahani family, which has been involved in business in South Asia since 1820, was a member of the Stock Exchange and a sat on the Board of Midas Financing Ltd.

Educated in the US, Behrouze was also serving as the chairman for Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital and the Ispahani Public School and College. He was also a member of the Trustee Board of the Independent University, Bangladesh. The Ispahani Group, well known for its tea across the Indian sub-continent, employs around 10,000 people. In 1820, Hazi Mohammad Hashem Ispahani moved to India's Mumbai from Persia's Ispahan.
