According to Coinwire , Russian crypto mines will create their own version of the World Wildlife Fund's annual Earth Hour event.

Since 2004, Earth Hour has encouraged people and businesses around the world to turn off their electricity for an hour to draw attention to global energy consumption.
Russia's crypto miners have created 'Crypto Hour' where miners across the globe are being asked to turn off their equipment on the evening of March 24 – the same day as the main Earth Hour event – between 20:30 to 21:30, Moscow time.
The Crypto Hour campaign is led by CryptoLife founder and member of the Russian Duma's expert council for FinTech development, Peter Dvoryankin who says the goal of the campaign is to create 'ecological mining' maps that will help people determine the most ecologically-friendly places to mine crypto based on their proximity to renewable energy sources."
Dvoryankin hopes says he hopes Crypto Hour will aid 'the creation of systems to use the heat generated in the process of mining to develop less energy-intensive distributed ledger technologies.'
High hopes indeed. But as Crypto's have often been associated with "darkness" of various nefarious kinds, any form of "positive' darkness is surely a good thing.
