Over six die in US bridge collapse


(MENAFN) Workers are splitting the blocks of a recently built footbridge,which tumbled down on to a main road in Miami,leaving over six people dead,meanwhile police declared that they are expecting more victims in the smashed vehicles in the debris.

The bridge,weighting 950 ton,collapsed for the traffic on one of the most crowded roads in South Florida.

With over eight vehicles still under the rubble,more fatalities are expected,according to the Miami-Dade Police Department director,Juan Perez.

Perez added at a news conference: "We know that there's people missing,the family members know that there's people missing,and what we can tell them is that we can assume that they're in there,"
