DOHA: An employee from the Corporate Communications Department at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has won the best photo award at the tenth annual Arab Tourism Media Oscar Awards.
Mohammad Al Hasel Al Yafei, a photographer in the Corporate Communications Department, was announced as the winner earlier this week when the awards were handed out on the sidelines of the ITB Berlin Convention in Berlin, Germany.
Dr. Sultan Al Yahyie, President of the Arab Tourism Media Center said more than one and a half million voters participated in selecting award winners through electronic voting. A total of 187 participants from 14 Arab countries entered the competition, which comprised several categories including best-specialized journalist, best television show, best documentary tourist program, and best Arab news agency, among other categories.
Al Hasel Al Yafei, whose winning photograph was taken at Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, expressed his great pleasure in receiving the award. He called it a win on behalf of the State of Qatar and thanked those who voted for his photo for their support. He also thanked HMC for the organization's ongoing encouragement and support of his professional career.
