14 Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli forces

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Gaza, March 16 (Petra)-- Some 14 Palestinians were shot and injured by Israeli occupation troops Friday in the Gaza Strip as they were protesting against the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, a move that has inflamed tensions in Palestine and across the region.

Spokesman for the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qudrah, said the protesters were shot by live ammunition and they were sent to hospitals for treatment.

The Jordanian Government considers the U.S. decision to recognize Jerusalem as capital of Israel and move the U.S. embassy to the holy city is a violation of international legitimacy resolutions and the UN Charter, which clearly stipulate that Jerusalem's status is decided through negotiations and deem all unilateral actions aimed at imposing new facts on the ground null and void.
