Pakistan emphasises need for border fencing after terror attacks in Afghanistan
The 18th meeting of the National Security Committee was held in Islamabad on Friday which was chaired by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbas and attended by Ministers for Interior Ahsan Iqbal, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mehmood Hayat, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Sohail Aman, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi and National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua.
The meeting expressed solidarity with Afghanistan after a spate of terrorist attacks. It said Pakistan can feel the grief of Afghanistan as it is also a major victim of terrorism.
About allegations from Afghanistan after terror attacks, the meeting observed that some foreign elements were creating misunderstandings. It said Pakistan is willing to hold positive talks with Afghanistan to ensure security in the region.
A delegation from Pakistan led by Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua is arriving in Afghanistan today (Saturday) to discuss Pak-Afghan Action Plan to ensure security in the region. The delegation will discuss Pakistan's proposals for a combined way forward with Afghan officials.
