Uzbekistan's soum strengthens

A week ago the rate of euro began to decline in Uzbekistan, and now the soum strengthensagainst the USD.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported that the official exchange rate of the euro from Dec.12 wil be 9 531.94 sums. A week ago (on Dec. 5) the figure was 9 608.72 sums per USD.

The new official rate for the USD will be be 8093 soums starting Dec.12, down by 3.33 soums.

The fall was also fixed in relation to the exchange rate of the Russian ruble, albeit small - by 0.71 sums. The rate is 136.86 soums per ruble.

Thanks to the introduction of currency liberalization in Uzbekistan, since September 5 2017, citizens of the country sell currency in banks at a real market rate.

The purchase of currency is carried out through its crediting to international payment cards for use in foreign countries.
