DUBAI, 6th December, 2017 (WAM) -- Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, today chaired the 8th meeting of the World Trade Organisation National Committee, reiterating the UAE clear-cut stance toward maintaining transparency in dealing with food security and agricultural exports issues.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the country's participation in the WTO 11th Ministerial Conference, to be held in Argentine on December 10th-13th. The UAE delegation to the meeting will be comprised of more than 25 officials from different federal and local departments concerned.

The minister doubled on the importance of conducting in-depth discussion of food security issues, specially that the UAE is importing 80 percent of its food requirements.

Abdullah Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of Foreign Trade and Industry Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, pointed out that e-commerce -related issues will feature high on the meeting's agenda, in light of the myriad challenges besetting the growth of this kind of trade, including lack of trust and security.
