Seville train crash At least 21 passengers injured
The accident is believed to have been caused by an accumulation of mud on the tracks following heavy rain in the area near Seville in the south of the country.
Unofficial local reports said more than 30 people have been injured.
Pictures at the scene showed the walking wounded being accompanied away from the derailed train carriage with bloodied bandages on their heads.
Tables were reported to have been flung around the carriageway, leaving shocked passengers with severe bruising and fractures.
All the people on board were immediately taken to a safe area for fear of an explosion on board because all the fuel tanks had been ruptured.
