Liverpool, Norris Green: officer injured after van drove at him
(MENAFN) After officers attempt to pull over a white Ford Transit van in Hasfield Road, Norris Green on Saturday, the van drove right at a police officer inflicting him with grave injuries.
Later, the officer was confirmed by Merseyside Police that he would survive after being escorted to a hospital and treated. It was also confirmed that a suspect is currently in custody and is being interrogated.
Det Ch Insp Martin Earl stated "this was a despicable attack on a police officer who was simply doing his job, trying to protect the communities of Merseyside. The officer has sustained serious injuries for which he is receiving treatment. He has also been left extremely shaken by his ordeal."
