Volkswagen to invest in electric vehicles


(MENAFN) Volkswagen has declared investing over 34b Euros in electric autonomous and digitalized cars until 2022.

The company has made the decision after the result of consultations on the Wolfsburg-based company's board on how to react to the challenge of the automotive industry's technological change.

The CEO is hopeful that the huge investment plan would allow Volkswagen to become the "global number one" for electric vehicles.

As planned, the company's Zwickau plant will become an "E-Mobility Plant", while the Passat line production is presuming in Emden from the start of 2019 onwards and the Golf cars is produced in Wolfsburg.
