More than 40 Iranian food companies have come up to participate in the Food and Consumer Industries exhibition (FCIE) scheduled to start from October 26.
'More than 40 food companies from Iran are coming to participate in the exhibition, said Mohammad Bagheri (pictured), First Counsellor of Embassy of Iran in Qatar.
He said that the Iranian Embassy has been receiving numerous calls from Iranian companies which are willing to do business with Qatari companies.
'Most of the companies participating in the exhibition this month are from food sector but the companies representing other household items will also be taking part in the expo, he said while talking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of 4-IN CoverTech - Qatar International Exhibition for Decoration, Wall, Floor and Lighting - being held at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
He said that Turkey-Iran-Qatar land and sea route facilitates easy transportation of goods from Turkey to Qatar. He said that the land route from Turkey to Port of Bushehr in Iran takes only two-day for transportation while shipping time between Bushehe and Qatar is just 12 hours.
He said that the trade between Iran and Qatar had also increased by 5-6 times since the imposition of siege in June.
Bagheri said that Iranian companies were also willing to start joint ventures with Qatar. 'Iranian companies are eager to come here and develop partnerships with Qatari counterparts.
To a question, he said that apart from food products, Iran could also supply construction material like marble, ceramics, gypsum, cement to Qatar fir its ongoing mega projects. 'Regarding construction projects, Qatar has its own specifications and standards and the Iranian companies will take some time to learn about them. But with small investments, Qatari companies can establish plants there in Iran to produce stuff according to Qatar's needs as well, he added.
According to information shared on Qatar Chamber website on FCIE, Food & Consumer Industries Exhibition (FCIE) will strengthen and meet the standards of Qatari food industry and sector. Qatar food production industry accounts for approximately 10% of the country's domestic consumption. Qatar depends mainly on food imports for local needs. Food consumption is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% up to 2019.
For international entrepreneurs and traders, as well to the manufacturers, suppliers, food technology companies, and hospitality services on food and beverage, Food & Consumer Industries Exhibition (FCIE) will be an excellent platform to open new vistas to foray into the emerging markets of Qatar.
It will promote joint venture opportunities between Qatari Business enterprises and foreign investors and will also create an opportunity to source food products, and technology from over the globe.
