Trump amends disaster declaration for Texas
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- US President Donald trump authorized an increase in the level of federal funding for debris removal and emergency protective measures in the State of Texas due to Hurricane Harvey, the White House announced Saturday.
Under Trump's "major disaster declaration" issued for Texas on August 25, Federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 percent Federal cost sharing of total eligible costs, the White House said in a statement.
He also increased cost sharing to 90 percent Federal funding for debris removal, including direct Federal assistance, it added.
The President also increased a 100 percent Federal funding for emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance for 30 days from the start of the incident period, and then a 90 percent Federal cost share thereafter, it indicated.
Earlier, the President, along with the First Lady, visited Houston, Texas, surveyed the damage, talked to volunteers and people affected by Hurricane Harvery.
On Thursday, Trump pledged USD 1 million of personal money to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. (end) si.ma
