(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Tche Tche struck two telling blows to help Al Suwaiq defeat Dhofar 2-0 in the final and claim the prestigious His Majesty's Cup Football Championship title at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (SQSC) on Thursday night.
The comprehensive victory gave Suwaiq its third HM's Cup crown - in 2009, 2013 and now 2017 - while Omantel Professional League (OPL) champion Dhofar failed to add its glittering tally of eight trophies.
Tche Tche scored both the goals in the second half. The first one came in the 77th minute when he collected a pass from Omar al Fizari and found the target. The second strike came in the 86th minute, with Tche Tche finding his Midas' touch yet again.
An elated Hakeem Shaker, the Suwaiq team manager, said after the title win, 'We played a perfect game tonight. We showed superiority in terms of tactics, that's how we were able to defeat Dhofar. They have a lot of good players, after all. We finally made our loyal fans happy and we are glad to have won this precious trophy.'
Molay al Hassan Murad, the Dhofar team manager, said, 'We dreamt of winning the domestic double this season, but we couldn't. We did everything we could in today's match, but we were not lucky enough to score a goal. Suwaiq found two chances to score, and they converted both of them.'
Suwaiq's matchwinner Tche Tche said, 'I am really happy that I could help my team win this title. I must thank all my teammates for helping me to score those two goals. It has been quite tough season for Suwaiq, especially with so many injuries troubling us.
At the end of it all, we earned this title.'
Dhofar had won the OPL crown at home against strong contender Al Shabab recently, scripting history by claiming the title for a record tenth time, surpassing Fanja's nine titles.
