Qatar- RAF launches QR75.1m projects for Syrians

Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) launched a slew of projects related to health, education, development and housing at a cost of QR75.1m to rescue displaced people in northern part of Syria.
The projects were initiated under phase-2 of 'Save Aleppo' campaign by RAF with other four Qatari charities participating in the campaign — Qatar Charity, Eid Charity, Qatar Red Crescent Society, and Afif Charity under the supervision of Charities Regulatory Authority. Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani, Chairman, Board of Trustees, and General Director, RAF and Dr Mohamad Salah Ibrahim, Deputy Director of RAF inaugurated the projects in four sectors — health, food security, shelters and education.
Nine projects at a cost of over QR28m were inaugurated to provide health services to more than 1.4 million displaced people. The health projects include portable medical units and operating the hospitals. In food security, RAF launched five projects at a cost of QR15.3m. More than 128,000 people are expected to benefit from the project s. Farmers were provided agricultural inputs and animals for breeding in Rif, Aleppo and Hums.Under shelter project, new insulated tents at a cost of QR2.1m were distributed to displaced people living in poor quality tent facilities.
Six projects have been inaugurated to create educational opportunities to displaced children. More than 741,000 students and teachers are expected to benefit from these projects. Under educational projects, 30 school buildings damaged in the incident will be repaired. In addition, 3.5 million text books will be published. Salaries of 6,500 teachers will be paid for nine months.
