Oman- State Council approves study on promotion of health


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The State Council on Tuesday approved a study of the Social committee on 'Policies for the Promotion of Health (Non-Communicable Diseases)'.

The council also approved a report of the joint committee between the State Council and Majlis A'Shura on the draft cultural heritage law, as well as a draft law on organisation and protection of aflaj sites listed on the World Heritage List.

The committee also recommended activating an initiative on schools enhancing health and nutrition so as to be circulated to cover all higher education institutions with emphasis on awareness programmes about risks of non-communicable diseases.

The committee highlighted the importance of preparing qualified human resources in fields related to promoting health and supporting relevant studies and research, as well as increasing financial resources allocated for prevention of non-communicable diseases through innovative mechanisms.
