Kuwait's Direct Aid Society launches aid campaign for Somalia

KUWAIT, March 29 (KUNA) -- Direct Aid Society launched Wednesday a relief aid campaign for Somalia, through its local branches and electronic media sites, in order to combat famine that threatens the lives of Somali people.
The campaign aims at collecting KD 500,000 (around USD 1.65 million) for digging big water wells at Somali villages to meet their needs for at least 10 years.
The first stage of this campaign collected KD 300,000 (around USD 900,000) to deliver 15,000 food baskets for about 90,000 Somalis.
The second stage gathered KD 200,000 (around USD 660,000) to build eight health centers. (end) tm.ss
