Jordan- Arab League Council meetings open at Dead Sea

Dead Sea, March 25 (Petra)--Meetings of the Arab league Council at the level of permanent representatives and senior officials started at the Dead Sea shores in the presence of Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit and ambassadors of Arab countries.

The meetings will discuss in closed and open sessions a number of political, diplomatic and security issues in the region.

Jordan's permanent representative to the Arab League Ali Al Ayed said after assuming the presidency of the Arab League Council, that Jordan is keen to place all its capabilities at the service of Arab issues, top of which is the Palestinian issue.

He reiterated Jordan's support to efforts that aim at resuming Palestinian-Israeli talks leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al Ayed also reviewed Jordan's stances on the region's crises, stressing the need for a political solution in Syria that achieves the aspirations of the Syrian people, ends bloodshed, preserves the country's unity and allows the return of the Syrian refugees to their country.

On Yemen, he affirmed Jordan's rejection of foreign interference in Yemen's internal affairs as well as the need to solve the Yemeni crisis through the Gulf initiative.

Al Ayed also voiced Jordan's support to legitimacy in Libya and to dialogue among all political components in the country.

He also affirmed Jordan's support to Iraq in its fight against terrorism.

Permanent representative of Mauritania that hosted the previous Arab summit, voiced hope that Jordan's efforts to lead joint Arab action will succeed, adding that his country seeks, in coordination with the Jordanian leadership, to ensure the success of the summit.
