Jordan- Police arrest man for cyberbullying


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 22 (Petra) -- Police have arrested a man accused of blackmailing and threatening a girl from an Arab nationality using online platforms. The Public Security Department said its cybercrime division nabbed the man after a girl posted on a social media network that she had fallen victim to a man from inside Jordan after he duped her into believing that he was "psychic healer".

The girl sent the man some personal photos and video recordings he had requested and convinced her that he would use them "to heal her" but he blackmailed her and demanded money in order not to upload the content she had sent him online. According to the PSD statement, the girl sent the man an mount of JOD1,000 but he continued to threaten her and asked for more money.

After learning about the story, the police set up a team and tracked down the man and managed to apprehend him and he confessed to online blackmailing and cyberbullying. AA
