Britain highlights Lebanon's key role in rebuilding Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Feb 4 (KUNA) -- British Secretary of Stat for International Development Priti Patel Saturday highlighted Lebanon's important role in the rebuilding of Syria.

Patel, during a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Beirut, reaffirmed Britain's support to Lebanon's economy as well as helping the Arab country carry the burden caused by the huge number of Syrian refugees living in different parts of Lebanon, a statement by the presidency said.

Petel said Britain would step up its calls on the international community to double assistance to Lebanon.

Aoun, said the statement, commended Britain's support to Lebanon specially in the fight against terrorism and offering services for the Syrian refugees.

Aoun hoped Britain helped facilitate return of Syrian refugees to their country because Lebanon was unable to carry this burden.
