GCC power sector needs to expand at USD137bn


(MENAFN) The GCC States, whose power capacity needs to increase at an average annual pace of 8 percent amid 2016/2020, will need USD137bn over the next five years.

Additionally, the GCC power construction contractor awards are to expand 14 percent year-on-year to USD25.52bn this year.

Meanwhile, the power capacity in the GCC recently shows 47 percent or 148GW of the current MENA power-generating capacity.

Moreover, the GCC governments have increased water, elect and fuel prices to ease the burden on state budgets.
