Saudi- Living cost index in the Kingdom rises 0.2% in April

Riyadh, Sha'ban 19, 1437, May 26, 2016, SPA -- The index of the cost of living in the Kingdom rose by 0.2% during the month of April 2016 compared to the previous month of March, according to the General Authority for Statistics (GaStat) and published through its official website on the internet www.stats.gov.sa.
The report of the Authority said that by measuring 12 key sections, the monthly rise in the index was due to rises in 8 sections, namely: health; miscellaneous goods and services; tobacco; clothing and footwear; Communications; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; furnishing, equipment and home maintenance; and food; while it decreased in 3 of the main index sections : recreation and culture; transportation; and restaurants and hotels. The section of education remained at the previous level of prices with no main change.
The aim of the index of cost of living is to provide data on the prices of goods and services included in the consumer basket and provide data on indices of the cost of living within a time series.
