ISIS Member Arrested in Morocco Sought to 'Make Powerful' Explosives: Ministry


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Scientific expertise carried out by the specialized services on suspicious materials seized in Tangier, following the arrest last Friday of an ISIS-affiliated Chadian national, confirmed that these commodities are used to make powerful explosives, said the Interior Ministry in a press release.

Expertise also indicated that the aluminum powder seized at the accused’s house is used to accelerate the explosion and increase its impact in order to cause significant casualties and property damage, said the ministry, adding that the pressure cooker and plastic tubes were packaged to be filled with explosive materials.

The same expertise confirmed the authenticity of the accused's identity card and his Chadian passport used to enter Morocco, the same source added.

The investigation revealed that the Chadian citizen planned to use the explosives as part of his destructive project that targeted tourist sites, classified hotels, military barracks, security services and the headquarter of a Western chancellery in the Kingdom
