Kuwait- No telecom masts inside residential areas


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Chairman of the Finance and Legal Committee at the Municipal Council Mane' Al-Ajmi revealed that the committee has agreed to prohibit the installation of telecommunication masts inside residential areas and the vicinity of hospitals. Al-Ajmi said the subject of solid waste; its management and ways of benefiting from it, has been referred to the Legal Department.

He stated lawsuit filed by the Board Chairman of Kuwaiti Farmers Association against the proposed Vegetables and Fruits Market at Sulaibiya has been adjourned. He also said the case filed by heirs of Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Nasser against Kuwait Municipality and the proposed amendment to regulations governing shops and advertisements has been withheld. He declared the committee has referred the general assembly recommendation to empower Kuwait Municipality inspectors to enter public and private schools. They also deliberated on the burning of tires at Mina Abdullah and several other relevant issues.

The Health Development Department in the Health Ministry recently organized an awareness campaign on obesity among youths in cooperation with the Helping Patients Fund and Education Ministry, reports Al-Anba daily quoting Head of the department Dr Abeer Al-Bahwa. Disclosing the campaign will continue until the end of December 2016, Al-Bahwa said the World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that 41.9 percent of the people in Kuwait are overweight and 28.9 percent of them are considered obese. She added that in 2015 around 2.3 billion adults all over the world were found to be overweight and the obese reached more than 70 million. She then enumerated the dire consequences of being overweight such as heart diseases € the number one cause of death in the world.
